We were happy to start the second part of our trip in Chalon sur Saône on the beautiful Delling. The ship was new and beautiful and our room even in the less expensive category was beautiful and comfortable. The staff, led by Mia (excellent cruise director) and Eve (excellent hotel manager) was super. They treated us as if they were our hosts to a wonderful journey that lasted all week. It was everything a cruise should be and more! Always the unexpected surprise was waiting for us, we were spoiled all around.

Chalon sur Saône is not a picturesque port but it permitted us to go to Beaune on the first day which was relatively close. There we visited a wonderful old hospital from the Middle Ages, it was exceptional. We also went to a wine tasting event and drove across the wineries in the region with a few short stops. We also had an hour to spend in beautiful Beaune, a lot of nice stores especially for foodies.

Next day was in Lyon, I had no idea what to expect but it really was one of the highlights of the trip. The Fourvière Basilica was breautiful as were the roman ruins nearby. Both sides of the Saône river offered a lot of visiting options and after the tour we took advantage of the free shuttle from port.
