We are a couple in our sixties with at least 20 prior cruises. We has sailed on this ship in 2013 to Bermuda and did not like the experience at all, primarily because of poor service throughout the ship, especially in the bars and Oceanview Cafe. We booked this cruise because of the itinerary and were prepared for the worst. I have to say that those concerns were unwarranted on this cruise. The service throughout the ship was fabulous.
We stayed at the Hilton on Staten Island prior to the cruise using their cruise shuttle service. There was delay and confusion both going to the pier and returning when the cruise was over.
Embarkation at the pier went smoothly and quickly and in about twenty minutes we were on the ship waiting for the cabins to be cleared. The cabins on this ship are pretty pedestrian. We had an oceanview cabin on deck three. There is plenty of storage if you are creative and flexible with storage ideas. Our cabin steward and assistant kept it very clean and were very helpful throughout the cruise. The bed however was pretty uncomfortable. Deck three is not a bad place to be since you are near both the main dining room, theater and Guest Relations and the Shore Excursion desk.
Cabin was kept clean and had ample storage. Small bathroom. Uncomfortable bed.
Nice village recreation. Not worth the long bus ride.
Booked a private tour. Highlight was Peggy's Cove and an outdoor lobster lunch.
