Myself and my Husband (52 & 58yrs) have just returned from an amazing Cruise around the Greek Islands and Turkey. This is the first time we have cruised and couldn't have chosen a better cruise ship to start us off. The start was not too good as we arrived 3 and a half hours late due to the plane being delayed and this meant that we arrived after the ship was supposed to depart. We were disappointed that Thomsons did not give any information about what would happen regarding this and did not tell us that the Ship would wait for us. On arrival at the airport the travel to the ship was seamless, we were met by a rep who tagged our cases and gave us our cabin and boarding passes, we loaded our cases onto the coach and the next time we saw them they were outside our cabin.
Yes the ship was a little tired in places but there was everything we needed on board. We were in an outside cabin on deck 3, the cabin was adequate, it had tea making facilities a small shower, hairdryer and a TV with limited channels - but who watches TV on a cruise?. Helen our cabin stewardess was great, really friendly and did an excellent job. The food was amazing, we dined mainly in the seven seas restaurant in the evening but also used the Piazzo San Marco buffet for breakfast and afternoon tea.
We did 1 excursion to Ancient Delos from Mykonos and to be honest we wouldn't do organised excursions again. It was very nice but we could have done the same trip on our own for half of the price. There were 2 ports which were disappointing these were Athens and Kalamata. The Acropolis was great in Athens but apart from that there was not much to do. We got the yellow tour bus from outside the port a couple of minutes walk. With a bit of a haggle we got this for 15 Euros, this took us to the Acropolis, about 25min drive and then following this we re-boarded the bus for a tour of Athens this took about 2 hrs due to heavy traffic, so give plenty of time for this. Kusadasi is great for Genuine Fake goods but be ready for haggling and don't be pressurised into buying from the first shop you go into.
The cabin was adequate, it had tea making facilities a small shower, hairdryer and a TV with limited channels. Not a great deal of storage space, a chest of drawers and a small wardrobe.
