The wife and I live here in Long Beach, so wanted to try the easy four day over to Catalina then Ensenada, it was actually less expensive to do this than to pay for the Catalina Express shuttle for us. We bought the FTTF to see if we liked that, needing to disembark early to get back to work on Thursday. Able to embark quickly right after the suite guests, our cabin was ready on E deck forward port side. There was a large blower in the room as if the carpet had been cleaned or they needed to dry a spill, no odor was present, it looked clean. Our luggage arrived right away.

We ran up to lido and were enjoying lunch by noon, so far so good. The pool was netted and empty until about 4pm on day two due to some problem they were working on. But since tendering was halted early to Catalina that morning due to wind (we were lucky or smart enough to get off on an 8 am tender) the bulk of the passengers had been drinking all day. When we returned around 1:30 pm the crowd was shouting "we want a pool" and drunken guys were jumping into the nets with no water in the pool. They finally filled the pool. Back on the "serenity" adult area were we like to hang, they were doing work every day with metal grinding tools....not at all "serene".....everyone was angry.

The food in the dining room was quite good we thought, with the buffet just that, a buffet. While this ship has enough food choices, it lacks entertainment venues or they just don't use them well. The piano bar had a great guy, Scott who played the first two nights, then nothing in there for the next two nights. None of the lounges were having a band so we could dance, only the hallway area a band was there but you'd have to dance in the walkway where people were moving front to back of ship. The lounges would have either comedy, magic, kerioke but no bands, and never a live band poolside all cruise. We could not endure this vessel any more than the four days....not enough to it.

Cabin 4D

Other than the fact that this cabin is directly under the forward theater, it was fine. On two nights one would not want to get back to cabin before 11pm because the show is going on until 1130pm or so, you will not sleep until then. No refrigerators in the rooms so just don't expect one. They had nice robes in the closet for us and Eddy did a great job keeping ice in the bucket for us and wine glasses on request.
