My wife and I were not completely satisfied with our experience on the Breakaway. We had some issues with our TV the second day & everything snowballed from there. When we noticed the red light was off on the TV, I immediately called the operator around 4:30 pm, she told me that she would send someone right up. My wife & I waited till an hour, but no one showed up. So I called again, but it took forever for someone to answer the phone, it was just ringing & ringing till finally someone answered. I told the operator that no one ever showed to fix the problem and because we wanted to shower before dinner, not to send anyone up to our room till after we leave at 6:30 pm. We returned to our room after dinner around 9 pm & realized no one ever came to fix our TV. To make a long story short & we were both so upset, I ended up looking behind the TV for a power button that might have been switched off and realized the HDMI cable was disconnected, so I ended up fixing the TV myself. We did go to the guest relations desk to explain what had taken place, not only with the operator not sending someone up to correct the problem but also the number of rings it took to finally have a phone operator answer the phone, THANK GOD THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY.

In another matter, we thought the food selections in the main dining rooms were not up to par. My wife & I have been on many cruises on a variety of cruise line ships, from Royal Caribbean, Carnival & Princess. Of all our cruises, the Norwegian breakaway food came in close to last place. One of the everyday selections, strip loin steak, was not a good cut of meat. I tried it twice, both times the meat was very tough and rubbery and the same with the main course pot roast selection one night, I could not finish it. The waiter did offer to get me another dinner. My wife & I were really surprised that shrimp cocktail was not offered as an appetizer any of the seven nights for dinner. I did really enjoy the Caesar salads & the French Onion soup.

The wait staff in the main dining room seemed much unorganized the first couple nights. The first night was the worst. We waited awhile before someone finally came to our table. When we compared this ship to others we been on, we noticed we never were introduced to an assistant waiter. Usually, the waiter would come over and say I’m so and so, and this is so and so, the assistant waiter, but, not on this ship. Then mid week, we were seated along the right side at an isle table next to what looked like a bunch of computers were the waiters place the dinner orders. Well, about half way through my dinner, I could not take it any more from the waiters walking by the back of my chair, bumping into me, I ended up moving. I complained to the head waiter that because this area with the computers are track people placing orders & people trying to get by, it was very uncomfortable to try to have dinner. I also told him that this table of six we sat on should be reduced to a table of four to keep it away from the walkway. But, I went back the next day just to see if that situation was corrected, it was not. Then, from mid week on, the wait staff did get better.
