This was our first river cruise. The ships (Magni and Baldur) were excellent, including the staffs. The Danube became too low near Passau, Germany, so we merely switched ships and continued on our way to Amsterdam with hardly a glitch. Staff took our luggage from one ship to the other, and we took a 4 hour bus ride to the second ship, so we got to see some of the country we would have otherwise missed. We even had the same stateroom number. Viking handled this transition extremely well! The port excursions were interesting and well planned. Staterooms were clean and had everything you might need. Meals were terrific; our only issue there was we would have preferred to eat dinner earlier than 7 o'clock. Our concierge made disembarkation easy--arranging taxi service to take us to our hotel in Amsterdam. All in all, if we were to do another river cruise, we would make sure it was with Viking.
