Cabin: Cove Balcony

This was our 2nd Cruise, and the ship itself was a big step up from the ship we had been on before (The Carnival Triumph). It seemed roomier, had some really awesome food choices, and the top deck was definitely better with more seating and a much more elaborate water park, rather than a simple water slide.

Food was fantastic, I loved being able to try strange things in the Dining Hall in the evening without fear of going hungry if I didn't like it. It got me to try things I never would have before and ended up liking. Service was always great, as is talking to people you've never met and learning about them.

Shore excursions were lots of fun, though it was a bit weird with Belieze and being ferried to the mainland. But everything was handled smoothly, we got off the ship and to our meeting points on time with no delay, and got back to ship early enough there wasn't a line yet to board.

Cove Balcony

Cabin 7C

The balcony was fantastic, I love sitting out there in the afternoon or evening, away from the noise and crowd, just watching the water. We saw porpoises in Galveston, jellyfish, and TONS of flying fish. So cove balcony, A+!

Note: If you want to be able to relax and see the water, get a cove balcony and not one of the upper ones, IF the ship has both. It turns out the upper balconies look down onto a deck of people, with that deck and life boats blocking the immediate view of the water below where we saw most of the animals....PLUS those same people can stare up into your balcony. We were VERY glad we got a cove balcony after we saw that.

now for the cons:

The room itself was nice. The service was nice. We enjoyed snuggling in bed in a slow sea day afternoon and watching a movie on the movie channel on TV.

BUT....we got random food smells at odd hours of the day, sometimes so strong we had to prop open the balcony door to air it out, or leave entirely becuase we felt sick to our stomach.

The first day we had an extremely strong smell of spices. So strong it was making us feel sick. There was then herb chicken another day......fried chicken the next...it was horrid, we don't want to be smelling food all day long, especially food that might disagree with one of us.

Also, the vent in the room rattles horribly. Sounds like a chattering squirrel. And it's grated off, so we couldn't do anything about it but stare at it in the middle of the night trying to will it with the Force to stop rattling so we could sleep.

We were under the dining room, i think, but they seemed to do a lot of moving chairs and jumping up and down for work outs or SOMETHING in the middle of the night as well.

over all: I recommend a Cove Balcony, i do not recommend this room in particular
