This was our second Viking River Cruise, the first was Waterways of the Tsars from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Both cruises were excellent. The service from the cleaning staff, restaurant staff, tour director and local guides was superb. Our stateroom on the Atla was a Veranda Suite which was very nice because we had our own private sitting area in addition the the bedroom. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our rooms on both of our Viking Cruises.

The ships are small, holding less than 220 passengers. We liked this as it made for a much more relaxed atmosphere. Also because of the small numbers it was very easy to get on and off the ship and into the various sites that we visited.

This cruise took us to Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic because we extended our cruise at the end to include Prague. We had excellent local guides in each port. All of these countries were at one time Communist and it was very interesting to hear, from a local, what it was like to live under Communism in each country.
