Golden Princess Hawaiian Island Voyage January 7 through January 21

This is the 3rd Hawaiian Island cruise I have taken with Princess, the others being on the Island Princess and the Diamond Princess, this was my 12th Princess cruise. I flew from SFO to LAX on using the cruise line air package. I use their air whenever I need to fly to the ship so when the airlines have a problem getting me to the ship it doesn't become my problem. After landing in LAX, I got my bags, met the Princess greeters and got on the bus to the San Pedro port. We arrived at the port in about 30 minutes, there was no traffic! The boarding process was quick and smooth and I was on the ship by 11:40am.

The Golden Princess The ship is the in great shape! Most everything was clean and shiny. The only area that looks worn is on the top deck where the Astroturf is coming up a little. I booked an ocean view cabin and was informed the day before boarding that I was upgraded to a balcony cabin! As with all other Princess cabins this one was neat, clean and well stocked. The public rooms are great and the ship is easy to navigate. The Princess Theater makes watching the entertainment great wherever you may be sitting. I used the internet cafe almost everyday and never had to wait for a terminal and found it slow only one day while we were in Ensenada.

Cabin Review

I had a balcony cabin A510 on the Aloha deck which is right below the indoor pool of which has a lot of chairs, tables and lounges of which are moved around in the morning with some frequency and you can hear it most mornings. The cabin itself is great, it's mid-ship and high. The mid-ship stairway is close. There was a lot of cigarette smoke out on the balcony, I think it travels there because there is a metal roof above the balcony and the smoke doesn't have anywhere to go. If it's raining the roof is a good thing, also there isn't much direct sunlight on this balcony either.
