This was my 3rd cruise on Carnival and my 6th cruise overall. There were 4 in my group this cruise from Fort Lauderdale to the Eastern Caribbean - myself, wife, 21 year old son and his friend. The reoccurring complaint we all had was a noticeable lower quality of service than previous cruises. The buffet was found closed more often than open. Deck movies started early and ended by 8:30 PM and most movies were animated for children. Music at the pool was too loud and constant reggae every day all day - no variety. There was hardly any contests or organized activities at the pool like before. The casino absolutely sucked this trip. No payouts, slot machines were old and would jam, and no attendants around to assist. Room TV volume went to high during each announcement. Piano bar, the piano player spent more time talking and interrupting his music with more talk.

Entertainment was average and a couple of game programs we attended we so boring and bad we left. We dined in the restaurants and the food was very good one evening but the rest of the time it was average. A couple of hostesses were rude to us on two occasions. Teas were below par - no scones and limited variety of sandwiches. The chocolate extravaganza consisted of a few dishes at the buffet bar and was not worth going to. We were slightly disappointed on this cruise with the lower quality of service we had grown to like on Carnival. We cruise twice a year and will likely go on Princess our next trip.

Cabin 8A

Good. Only one 110 volt outlet in the entire room which makes charging phones and iPads a challenge. No clocks in the room or where one would expect them (pool, dining rooms, casino, etc.). Room size was adequate for 7 day trip. Room was clean. Shower drain was slow.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

We took an island tour from a operator at the dock. Highly recommend. $30 per person for a 2 hour air conditioned tour. Many stops of interest.

Nassau

Last stop of cruise. Some shopping in town. Ate at Hard Rock. Nice bars in area. Security warning for this town. Don't venture out or wear jewelry.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Spent some time at the beach area and enjoyed good food at the many restaurants along the beach. About $25 cab fare each way from Airport.
