First of all this is the first cruise that I have been on with my better half and we are so thankful that we chose to make it on the Britannia. From pulling into the P&O car park on our first day to being dragged down the gangway kicking and screaming on arrival in Southampton yesterday, we have felt so privileged to have been onboard.

Our eyes were opened in no time at all and we knew cruising was for us, as my good lady put it,.. It's like the Dorchester on the sea (I had to take her word for it) but we indulged and treated all the staff like they had just handed us a wonka golden ticket. I could go on and on about how amazing it all is (every bit of it) but you really need to experience it for yourself. If you are a civil, well mannered person who treats people as they wish to be treated then you are 90% there to having the most amazing experience of your life, the luxury of it all, staff falling over themselves to ensure you have a drink (even to the point of bringing us bottles of prosseco from the restaurant to the casino AFTER they have finished their shift) are all just the finishing touches!

Our only disappointment was at being allocated seating on a table of 8 instead of our preferred table for 2, these were short lived however, as we were lucky enough to be seated with two lovely down to earth couples who had done lots of cruises between (tween) them but weren't working on commission by rhyming off all their past glories...you know who you are Caribbean Cruise Caribbean Cruise Caribbean Cruise Caribbean Cruise lady!!!

Cabin Review

Cabin HC Balcony with shower

Cabin was perfect for a couple, the bed was the most comfy ever, great nights sleep every night! The balcony was big enough to sit and enjoy a drink on admiring the view or to have breakfast on - this will be a prerequisite for our next cruise which we found made this cruise. Who wouldn't rather enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony as you're getting your tux on, taking in the setting sun on the sea as opposed to looking out of a tiny window or even no window at all! I'm by no means a snob but I'd happily pay the extra EVERYTIME for the experience.

Port Reviews

Southampton

Unsure what the boarding procedure was with it being our first cruise but everything was explained and straight forward. Much prefer getting out the car and handing over the keys and the cases than the rigmarole at an airport

Bilbao

Lovely city, didn't take an excursion but explored it on foot and I even got to save a little dog from the pond in the park!

La Coruna

Lovely place which we again explored on foot, 10 minute stroll past the marina to the fort and €2 entry into it. All the artefacts were labelled in multiple languages so I'm not sure what value you get from an excursion to here solely or including here as part of further visits
