We just got back from a fabulous cruise to Alaska on the Volendam. It was a multigenerational cruise including Nana, Papa, our 8 year daughter, 5 year old daughter and my sister and family. We all had an amazing time and could not believe the service we received. The dining staff were amazing. From Nono and Rim in the Roterdam to the staff at the Lido buffet to the staff on the pool deck we were treated so well. They were so friendly and so happy to provide the very best service they could. We also had 2 people with a dietary restriction and they made it so simple for us. They exceeded our expectations. The food was very good. Great variety.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. We also could not believe how much we could fit into our inside stateroom. They designed these rooms very well with lots of storage and we all slept very comfortably. My daughters were quite excited to have separate beds and take turns on the ceiling bunk bed. There was chocolate and towel creatures greeting us each night.

The kids club staff of Sophie and Jessica provided great activities and adventures including pirate night which was a favourite.

Port Reviews

Juneau

Very touristy with shops everywhere. Best place was Red Dog Saloon.

Skagway

Our favourite port. Beautiful location. Be sure to go to museum and sign up for walking tour. If with kids get them to become junior Rangers. We all enjoyed Skagway.

Glacier Bay

Lucky to see glaciers caving.

Ketchikan

Enjoyed Creek Street and seeing salmon and seals.
