Where do I begin- Let's see- embarkation fine. Suite really beautiful and terrible at the same time. I'll explain.. Took the largest suite-deck 12- high up, right under the bridge in the front of the ship. My wife and I are good sailors and love the gentle swaying/rocking movement of a ship that extreme ends of ship might be subject to. At speed, or in rough weather hydrodynamics of hull hitting water created huge BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. Not only loud BOOM but terrible shaking of entire suite-foyer-living room-large bedroom and double bathroom. Lost 4 nights sleep! Not what you want on vacation. Staff sympathetic but what could they do- ship sold out- I was told. We endured, unhappy, but we endured.
Food- very inconsistent-the Crown Grill was truly excellent. Had anytime dining. Some, most food really very good if you selected carefully-though I suppose selection is really a matter of taste and so the luck of the draw. Some food not edible so poorly prepared. Food in horizon court surprisingly good. One evening asian soup night. Thought it was gimicky barely paid attention-had to select ingredients and waiter brought it over after a while. It was excellent-best soup I had on board. Also best roasted chicken. Service in dining room variable. Most choose anytime dining. Huge dining room crowded-staff seemed overwhelmed and unusually taciturn for a cruise. Maitre'ds tried very hard and were more than pleasant but more staff were needed to serve.
Room steward-Salcedo-a gem, always went out of his way
Beautiful town replete with ocean liner history.
Beautiful Highlands
It poured all soaking wet but pretty town. Tours generally uninteresting so walked in rain. Waited an hour on line to get back to ship.
