Being a frequent Carnival cruiser I have had enough great experiences with them to know that this ship was severly lacking. The food was subpar - even gross at times. When my 18 y/o who will eat ANYTHING pushes his plate away, you know the food is bad. Our dining staff was inattentive the first night and pushy and overbearing the third night about why we skipped dinner in the dining room the second night. We didn't meet our room steward until the second day and only saw him in passing twice after that. We are Gold VIFP guests, we never got our pin for the sailing, nor the usual free drink coupon for return sailing. The third bed in our room was a cot three inches off the floor that was NOT comfortable.
The ship itself was clean, however it was clear that the carpets had not been replaced after the fire incident that left water standing in all the hallways. There was a clear water line all the way down the hall. The AC in the room and in the hallways was non-existent. However, anywhere that they wanted you to spend money (read casino and bars) the AC was frigid to the point of being uncomfortable.
The embarkation process was delayed by more than an hour due to the computer being down not allowing them to get the previous guests off. During muster station safety drill we were left outside packed in three deep with no air flowing for almost 45 minutes while they rounded up the stragglers in order to start the drill. (On the Magic muster drills are done indoors)
Bathrooms need an update, hair dryer needed replaced. Need to figure out an alternative bed if you are going to sell it as a three person cabin.
