This was my 9th cruise, third on RC, and 2nd time on Oasis. I knew the drill on the 2nd Oasis cruise, where to go what to do etc.... However, this cruise did have a caveat, we had to dodge a hurricane. I am all for safety and good weather first. My family had a balcony cabin mid ship 10th floor, it was wonderful our cabin steward Gary was fantastic. I know how hard everyone works on the ship!!!...and it can be a thankless job. I have cruised on other lines and have decided to become "loyal to RC"...but all was not perfect with this cruise.

We were scheduled to go to Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, we went to Costa Maya, and Cozumel. I booked my week based on the destinations...no big deal, again I am all about safety. Costa Maya was a train wreck...dirty smelly bug infested, just awful. A cruise ship had not been to this port in months...not kidding. I know the size of the Oasis and ports with empty docks decided where we cruised and were able to dock. The decision was not the captains but RC corporate office...next stop... Cozumel, I have been there now 5 times on cruises.... not interested in that port. We do not book shore excursions in advance, due to the potential change in itinerary and the high price! We always do better doing our own thing.

If you do not purchase the drink package, I feel as though you are given lesser service and drinks!!!..and we had the package!! I was almost always asked if we had the package, and if the answer was yes you were given a better drink....but the bartenders at the POOL AREA are always LOOKING FOR A TIP. Really RC???... I know the employees work very very very hard, with little time off. They are from other countries and have contracts with the cruise line for extended time frames without seeing their families. Your customers should not have to feel pressure to give that extra tip, when gratuities are paid in advance and 18% service charge is tacked on. Maybe an all inclusive would work better and the bartenders and wait staff will be "tipped for service provided".
