This was our first cruise of any type but one we had planned for several years. It exceeded our expectations. We found Viking to be a first class operation I every way - their planning and execution were exceptional.

Our Rhine River cruise started in Basel and ended in Amsterdam (actually Rotterdam due to unavailability of dockage in the port of Amsterdam that weekend). We also had a pre-cruise extension in Lucerne for a couple days prior to boarding our ship in Basel.

Switzerland was very expensive but beautiful. Our optional excursion to a mountain top in the Alps was expensive but worth every penny. The view from 10,000 feet and to say I walked on a glacier in the Alps is amazing. Lucerne itself it fascinating and beautiful.
