My husband and I arrived in Budapest 8/1/2015. All transportation was provided thru Viking. The plane transfers went smoothly. Upon arrival, the ship staff welcomed us aboard. Immediately, we both felt a warm wonderful feeling. The French balcony stateroom was beautiful. We were treated royally. Every meal experience was suburb. It was like dining at your favorite restaurant each night. Even though the weather was extremely hot that week, the Viking staff made sure we always had water before we left the ship. In Vienna we went with the Chief Chef to the Market. We were able to taste local delicacies and a special strawberry drink. Every time we came back to the ship we were handed a cool cloth and a sampling of the drink and food of the region we were visiting.
Unfortunately, because of the low water level in the Danube, we did have to change ships on the third day. I have to say, the Viking crews made this a seamless transition. We were treated to an authentic beer garden lunch that day before embarking on our next ship "Freya" to continue our journey. The captain of the Freya welcomed us aboard and announced free drinks in the lounge that night.
God willing we want to come back to experience this again. The only problem is choosing which river cruise destination we will do.
It was clean. The bed was comfortable. I wish the pillows were a little firmer. Enjoyed the view from our cabin.
The Buda Hills were beautiful. We loved the quaint town of Old City.
Was not impressed with the city of Vienna. Too modern and crowded.
Beautiful Abbey. Wish the weather was cooler so we could really experience the outside grounds.
As part of the walking tour we experienced the pipe organ concert. Very nice.
We took a walking tour with the ship staff thru this beautiful medieval city.
We had a bus tour which passed by sites; the Palace of Justice where the Nuremberg trials were held.
