My wife and I recently took the NCL Breakaway out of New York on a 7 night cruise to Bermuda. Leading up to our trip I read a lot of negative reviews, but as each day passed on the ship, I realized something. Many people have a sense of entitlement, and as a result, find it necessary to be dramatic and to knit pick. With that said, this review is for the average person who can look past the minor imperfections that will inevitably be apparent on any trip. (Note: Our ship was sailing at full capacity)

Embarkation - Fast and easy. We arrived at the cruise terminal at 9:45am, checked our bags, and had our keycards by 10:15am. We boarded the ship around 11:45am. Make sure you have your eDocs printed out and your tags on your bags.

Dining - We ate at two specialty dining restaurants during the week, La Cucina and Moderno. I read a lot of negative reviews about La Cucina and how it was nothing more than eating at an Olive Garden. I must be the only person that likes Olive Garden because I enjoyed my meal. We also sat outside on the Waterfront while we ate which was very nice. I equally enjoyed my meal at Moderno later in the week and left there totally stuffed! Here is a tip, make reservations within the first day or two of the trip for the specialty restaurants. What people tend to do is wait until the end of the week, only to find out that the place is booked. Then they come on here and write a negative review about it.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BB

If I ever have the good fortunate to travel on the Breakaway again, I literally would request the exact same room. We never took the elevator unless we were going to decks 15 and 16. The rest of the time, we were able to simply walk to decks 6,7, and 8. The stateroom was in a great location in relation to the rest of the ship. Also, I am the type of person that gets a little nervous looking over the edge of the balcony straight down below into the water. The great thing about this deck was that there was an overhang below which extended from deck 8. So basically you get the enjoy the wonderful views while at the same time having that extra sense of security.
