This was our first cruise on Norwegian. Overall the experience was great. We flew into the Miami International and took a taxi to the port. This took about 30 minutes from getting off the plane, to the taxi, and then drive to the port. Which was exactly what we had planned for.
We were on the Getaway, which we were supposed to do an itinerary to St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau. With the threat of hurricanes NCL decided to change the itinerary to Ochos Rios, Nassau, and Cozumel. The changes did not cause us any issues. We had only things booked in St. Thomas, but we had no issues of cancelling.
The embarkation process was quick and easy. We arrived right at 11:50am to the port and was dropping our bags off to our room at 12:25pm. Thought the process seemed organized, more so than other lines we have been on.
This room was a bit small, but it is a cruise ship. The balcony fits two exactly. This room is about 5 rooms down from the main entry and so it is convenient to get to the stairs and elevators.
My only complaint was that we heard kids running in the hall, next door, and upstairs at all times of day and night. The noise for some reason echoed through the room. The kids next door were crying a lot, and appeared to be left alone a lot. A few times we heard the kids on their balcony crying with the older kids trying to get the younger ones from hanging out on the balcony. So the room was noisy. We have been on older boats that was interior rooms, which felt larger, and was not noisy at all. It was a bit disappointing.
Nassau is okay. We went to Junkanoo beach, hung out for 2 hours, and headed back to the ship. It was just okay.
We did our own thing. We walked down past the port and the people wanting to take you places. A few were very aggressive, especially as we walked further down. We found a quiet bar that provided a place to snorkel, a table with an umbrella.
It's Jamaica. we hung out at the Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville, used the beach. It was okay.
