The Grandeur of the Seas is a ship of many contradictions. The Diamond Lounge offered stellar service and was a great venue to meet knowledgeable and experienced travelers. The staff in the venue took service to a new level! Continental breakfast, mid-day snacks and a lovely happy hour display couldn't have been better.

This was my first trip to Bermuda, traveling with my son and his family. The island is so beautiful, and it's very easy to get around using the ferry system. Visited St. Georges and Hamilton during the three day port. Bermuda is fairly expensive, but it is very easy to get back to the ship for meals if you are on a budget.

The Port of Baltimore couldn't be easier to navigate. Dropping luggage, parking and walking onto the ship was handled very well and arrived at the stateroom very promptly. The convenience of being able to drive to a port can't be overlooked. When traveling via Florida, the flight, hotel, and other expenses easily top $1,000 for two passengers.

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin L

This is the most negative cabin review I have every written, but I think it's important to give an objective and honest opinion. This particular cabin was horrendous! The layout makes it impossible to move around if the beds are put together. When arriving in the room, an occasional chair blocked the entrance, and there was a lone side table just sitting in the middle with no apparent purpose. If you needed to use the restroom in the middle of the night, I could almost guarantee a stubbed toe. Putting the chair in the corner near the closet, with the table on top of it, provided the "solution". I was told the chair couldn't be put in storage, even though it couldn't be used.

The Grandeur's beds (in this category) have probably never been replaced. I am about 5'7" tall, and the bed was so low that it didn't come up to the back of my knee. There was no room to put luggage under the beds, so valuable closet space was lost to store luggage.

If you have booked this room, or are considering doing so, think seriously about changing cabins. The mattresses are sagging, old and well-past their useful life. My son's suite had newer and taller beds. Also, there is no refrigerator/minibar in the room. The items that are for sale are piled on the vanity (again, wasting what little space is there) and no inventory list to let you know what should be there. I had placed everything in the cabinet above the vanity when I arrived, but my folio was charged for items that I didn't consume, however it was very difficult to say how many items should have been there when I arrived.
