Embarkation was quite a slick process, we were through and on the ship within 10 minutes! What a good start.
We booked a Junior suite as it was my birthday celebration. The suite was ready on time at 13.00 hrs and was very clean and tidy. Lots of storage and plenty of space, everything was well laid out. The bed could have done with replacing, but was not uncomfortable. Our cabin steward was Leah who was so attentive and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately Leah became ill toward the latter part of the week, and our new steward (who never even introduced himself) was overworked and the standard dropped dramatically.
The Windjammer restaurant was to say the least boring. Standards have dropped both with quality of food and choices both at breakfast and lunchtime, trying to get a table on sea days was a battle (maybe just the other passengers). The waiting staff were overworked and sometimes we had to move our dirty plates so we could eat the next course.
I was slightly disappointed with booking a suite with the solarium just above. My husband was not well and needed to sleep in the afternoons. Good job I took ear plugs! although there was not major sounds, it could get annoying as it was continuous. Overall the cabin was spacious , well laid out and lots of storage. There were more than enough coat hangers too! Contrary to other reviews, there were all the toiletries in the room. Just be aware if you need a siesta take ear plugs - enjoy!
Took the cable car up wandered around the shops and cobbled streets of Fira. Nextx visit will be to see Oia, as we could not get there at the time. Walked down the hill, but if you do beware of the donkeys, they do have a set route, and the smell can get overpowering!
Lovely outdoor Bazaar, quaint little shops, but be prepared to be hassled a little. Brush up on haggling too!
