I could see where a first time cruiser will be in awe of this ship. With some experience on other ships, I suspect that many of the ratings here would be much lower. Though Royal Caribbean prides itself on megaships, they are really interested in generating greater revenue by packing as many people in as possible into the space. The public spaces remind me of a busy hotel on the Vegas strip during convention season with literally no where to go that is reasonably quiet and comfortable. They may as well have put slot machines in the public areas. It was like being herded into a cattle car.

Due to the large number of people, the lines were ususally long for everything including food and entertainment which was marginal at best. The food and other service was very good and the staff appeared to be concerned and very helpful. The accommodations are just fine, though I would never recommending selecting a Central Park balcony room due to the noise of screaming kids at all hours. The pool deck is far too crowded and there is inadequate shade or ventilation in the Solarium in the bow which is the best place to hang out if you find that you must book this ship.

Our teenage grandkids were very disappointed as well. In general I regret choosing the Oasis for this trip. The food is just okay. The most costly specialty restaurant was a problem. We read the menu online in my room to find that it had changed when we arrived and the staff was flustered. Failing to update the online TV system is not a legitimate excuse when the menu is limited to two or thee items. So much for restaurants that are overpriced. Three of us wanted to have salmon and it was no longer on the menu, so we chose to go elsewhere. Would you believe that at 5 minutes to 9, the hostess did not offer to make a reservation in the main dining room despite the timing and the snafu being a ship mistake. Hearing that this was not the first complaint makes me wonder. Fortunately I got to know one of the head waiters and he was able to accommodate us at the last minute despite the late hour.
