We have sailed on many cruises and different lines. I was worried about some of the reviews on the Getaway, but I think some people will find something to complain about even if most things were great. Relax, you are on vacation! If you realize ahead of time that you will probably have to spend more money after you board the ship, you won't upset. NCL is catering to all budgets so plan accordingly.

Food was somewhat disappointing in Savor and Taste and definitely better in the specialty dining rooms, we ate in Ocean Blue and Cagney's two times, both were superb and we frequent upscale Steak restaurants. the Chinese (free) restaurant was great. We had the drink packages and the service was just like any other ship.....good, although in the areas that were most crowded service was slower. We chose to frequent other bars especially the bar in Cagney's even when we were not eating there!

yes the pools are crowded on sea days, but they are on every ship out there. What was nice about the Getaway is the adult only 16th floor, there is not a pool, but areas to sit in water and have water falls wet you, also..the service was great up there. Our ship changed itineraries last minute because of a potential hurricane and we were thrilled NCL did this instead of just missing a port as my sister's cruise did (Royal Caribbean) We went to Ocho Rios-Dunn's river falls-a ton of fun and felt safe taking a taxi to the falls from the ship. Cozumel-we took a ferry to Playa Del Carmen through the cruise line for only $20 then bought a day pass at one of the hotels right when you get off the ferry, The Porto, I would suggest the Royal over the hotel we went to. We also went to Nassau where we did a day pass on our own at the Hilton, beach was nice, no locals bothering you and pool was very nice.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BX

may opt for a suite next time, this cruise I spent the least amount of time on the balcony because it was so SMALL, uncomfortably small for more than one person at a time. Cabin attendant was okay and hardly every saw him. Didn't always change my ice and didn't dust the in room coffee make (we did not use) for some time. Most lines have a few toiletries, this only liquid dispenser soap and liquid dispenser shampoo.

Port Reviews

Ocho Rios

it was easy to do on our own, taxi to the falls, but the difference was only $10 so i would probably next time book through cruise, so I didn't have to think about it.

Cozumel

a bit of waiting until ferry was full and hot, but we got safely to Playa Del Carmen and back. We did a day pass at the Porto hotel right near the pier when we arrived for $65 pp.

Nassau

walked to Hilton from pier day pass $60pp includes food/drink credit of $40

Miami

a bit chaotic outside, but once inside the building to embark waiting about 1/2 in air conditioned lounge and got right on ship. Same as most other ports
