We were a family of 5 in 3 generations traveling in two penthouse suites on the aft of the ship. We're experienced cruisers, but this was our first time on Princess. It was my mother (late 60s), me and my husband (mid 40s), and our two kids (4 and 10). Everyone enjoyed the cruise, no one was ready to get off and return to reality. Our weather was gorgeous, the seas felt fairly smooth except for one night, and we loved both the ships and the ports, although we wish they stopped on Victoria before 7.

Room: The suites had a slightly awkward interior layout, but the best balconies we've ever had, and we spent a lot of time relaxing on our balconies. We had expected it to be too cold to use the balconies much in Alaska, but because they were on the protected aft, we didn't feel the wind at all, and they were lovely. Aft balconies are definitely the way to go for Alaska if you want to use your balcony much.

Entertainment: We attended three of the evening shows, the two production shows and the magician, and we enjoyed all three. The kids came with us and enjoyed the shows, although the little one missed the last show because she was over tired. There was nothing inappropriate for children in the shows if you aren't sensitive to skimpy costumes, but the cruise director told some risqué jokes afterward that I wished he had skipped after the early show. (There were a lot of kids present.). My husband and I did both the Ultimate Ship's Tour and the Chef's table, since most of the other lines we frequent don't offer similar experiences, and both were absolutely amazing. We did both wine tastings as well, and enjoyed both, although at the second (less expensive) one all the "pairings" were crackers and cheap cheese, and it really seemed a little silly to call those pairings.

Penthouse Suite with Balcony

The suites have a slightly awkward layout, but they were functional. I liked the split bathrooms so that one person could use the toilet while the other bathed or showered. The aft balconies are absolutely amazing, with room for two lounge chairs and a table and chairs for dining. We spent a huge amount of time on our balcony, and I can't say enough good things about it.
