We chose this cruise because it left from and returned to our home city. It was a nice cruise but nothing really stood out.

The food in the main dining room ranged from mediocre to bad. So much cost cutting has resulted in poor quality. Flavorless soups thickened with cornstarch and a complete departure from classic techniques that result in quality food. Waiters were poorly trained and unable to answer basic questions about the items on offer.

The pizza on deck 14 is pretty good and I was very pleased that they had a gluten free pizza, even if the guys making it groaned when they had to prepare it.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony

Cabins are small but workable. Layout is okay. Bathrooms are tiny. Closet space is good. Doors getting into the cabin are much too narrow. You cannot get a standard walker or wheelchair through the door. My mother uses a simple walker and it was a wrestling match each time she wanted to leave/return to the cabin.

Port Reviews

Victoria

Would have liked more time here. It is a beautiful city. Cruise ships only seem to stop here now to have a foreign port for duty free/casino purposes.

Skagway

The entire town seems to be run by the cruiselines. It is filled with jewelry stores that offer "specials" for cruise passengers. Very few local businesses. Not much to do but shop. Just another way for the cruise lines to separate you from your money. If you want to skip one of the ports, this is the one.

Juneau

Pretty town with some nice things to do. Good port with reasonable access to town.
