Just back from the Carnival Miracle 7 night cruise from Long Beach to the Mexican Riviera. Good cruise for Carnival -- frankly, our expectations are probably a bit lower for Carnival. We paid the premium for the "faster to the fun" and would probably do it again. It definitely came in handy when boarding and disembarking.

The Miracle is definitely showing its age. However, it was really clean and the staff was superb. Our cabin (deck 7 balcony) was very nice and larger then the Star Princess balcony cabin we were in a few months ago. Our cabin attendant (Aynah - may have wrong spelling) was superb. The dining room food gets a B+. Again, the service (table 191) was superb. Dinners were tasty and well presented, with the usual choices. However, some of the daily entrees were the same as the "everyday" menu, which is strange. The food on the Lido deck was ok, but the crowds were a problem. The serenity deck was anything but serene. Loud music and crowds. Also, we encountered people smoking and the staff did not tell them to cease until we asked them (staff) to do so.

We took the city and shopping tour in PV. It was better then expected, but the tour guide was a bit robotic and unenthusiastic. Also, the collusion between Carnival and the stores they take you to is painful. Finally, the restaurant (El Sid) they take you to was over priced and the food was awful. Interestingly, I glanced at the menu and the "deals" we were given for lunch were higher priced then the usual menu.
