Sail Date: Aug 2015
Cabin: Ocean View 6

This was our 2nd cruise. The first was on the Carnival Breeze in 2012 which we chose because of its itinerary and we planned to use it as a floating "travel lodge." Destinations were excellent, ship and carnival were not, 6th cruise in from launch already wearing in places. My wife vowed not to go cruising again and could not see why other people raved about it.

This time we booked a sea view and part of the package included $200 obc and the classic drinks package(we are not large drinkers, but this certainly added to the holiday). This was several classes up from what we had experienced with Carnival.

The small things which, even though simple, added to the experience; umbrella in the cabin as it was raining at Kotor, the iced towel and water/fruit punch on return to the ship, staff did not pester you to buy drinks if you sat in the bar and they genuinely wanted to help, rather than fixed corporate smile or open hostility.

Extremely large 381 square ft (Know people whose home feel smaller than this).Upgraded from standard sea view to this cabin excellent view from foward facing porthole.

Port Reviews

Kotor

spectacular entry through channel to Kotor, walked about old town and paid the 3 euros to go up to castle.

Santorini

Took cable car up walked down as line was 1 1/2 hours long to come down. Took local bus to Akorotiri(2 euro each way) as it left before the one to Osia (1.8 euro each way). Visited the archaeological was interesting and covered so in the shade.

Athens (Piraeus)

Took X80 express bus from outside cruise terminal into Athens,4 euro 1 day travel ticket, Celebrity $36. Paid 30 euro for taxi to take us to 1896 Olympic stadium, then up mount Lycabettus, only 4 other people there at 10 am, views of all Athens could see ship docked at Pirreaus and the Acropolis already crowded. Then he dropped us off at the fish and meat market which was interesting.we then walked through the Plaka area to catch the bus back to port.It gets hot very quickly in August so we did not join the line to the Acropolis.

Katakolon (Olympia)

We walked through Katakolon the short distance to the train Station to go to Olmpia, a coach would have been 5 euro from the sellers in the main street, but we thought we would see more from the train (10 euro return).

At Olmpia we looked around the ancient site and museum which cost 9 euro the excursion from celebrity which did exactly the same $90. As we noted that most of the groups could not actual y hear their guides as they went around the site

Venice

Went straight from airport to ship, left through the Grand canal which is something not be missed.
