This was the 41st cruise, 5th time on NCL. We flew from LAX to MIA and took the metrorail to Hampton Inn. We ate at Perricone's nearby and went to Publix to get wine. The next day we took the shuttle for $8 to the port at 11 am.
Embarkation: The luggage handler was the one who informed us our itinerary had been changed. Luckily, we already knew this because of a cruiser who was doing a back to back on our roll call and had gotten the notice in her stateroom. At check in we were again informed of the change. It turned out to be a good cruise weather wise with sea days in between port stops, so all was well. However, Jamaica is my least favorite port but we made due. We paid the corkage fee on our wine but I was able to get a 375ml of Malibu Rum onboard in my luggage (it is plastic). We were aboard very quickly and went to O'Sheehans for lunch.
Cabins were ready at 1. Lots of kids onboard. We had a mini suite mid ship which was spacious. Loved having the bigger bathroom. Bring soap and toilet paper, they only have 1/2 ply. Did not feel the balcony was that tiny. It is pretty long although not very deep. We were above the Waterfront but heard no noise from below. However, we had very noisy neighbors, I think they were running a day care center next door. Screaming kids at all hours. Ship was clean, loved the decor. Crew was very friendly.
Bed near bathroom, above Waterfront. No noise or smoke from below. Mid ship but long way to forward and aft elevators. Spacious bathroom, bring soap and tp.
went to chankanaab on our own. very good snorkeling, good value, lots to do there.
hated it. least favorite island.
