Sail Date: Jan 2009

Since we were covering the costs of all aspects of the travel we elected to travel the day of; four of us from Minnesota and two from KC. Hotels in SJ plus meals added too much it seemed but as the date neared I was concerned over weather delays and missing the ship. However, flights went well and we all arrived in SJ about 4:00 PM. Embankment went smooth and we were in the rooms by 5:30/6:00.

We had an outside balcony (#7361), daughter across the hall and son one level down and other side. Our cabin Stewart (Fery) was outstanding...they need attitudes like his in at the Pursers desk! Anyway, we grabbed a bite to eat, did the dreaded lifeboat drill and hit the casino...soon the beds.

St Thomas- We slept in some and elected to take a cab to Megan's Bay. Being at St Thomas before we would have liked to tried St John's and a visit to Trunk Bay but the day seemed to short and we had not signed up for anything. (Note - paying the tab for six of us we felt we would be best served by doing our own tours. Thanks to previous experience at several of these islands and reading Cruise Critics before leaving this worked fine.) Megan's Bay is beautiful - kind of quiet and relaxing. The ride was $8 each one way. We hit the bar for a few cold drinks, relaxed and enjoyed the view. On the way back we made a few stops. The kids loved the beauty of St Thomas. Previous visits we had done St John's, Sapphire Beach and Megan's Bay...all are wonderful!
