We were on a 12 day cruise from Barcelona to Venice. This was our first experience with Holland America. Everything went really well. Loved our aft balcony cabin, nice full bath, plenty of closet space, and great service. The ship appears to be in good condition, although not as glamorous looking atrium as Princess and not as beautiful as Royal Caribbean with the street, etc. This was a very port intensive itinerary, therefore, we didn't have too much time for onboard activities. Beautiful library, which could be nicely utilized if there would be many sea days. Embarkation and disembarkation was wonderful, much better than what we experienced in the past on other cruise lines.

Loved Lido. Food quality, selection and service was very good. MDR menu was not always very exciting, but the food was good. MDR service was excellent. The specialty restaurants are great, especially the steak house.

What we didn't like is that nobody supervised pool area. There were plenty of kids on board due to summer vacation and they were allowed to go to adult pool. Even though both pools have sign "no diving", people still did it and nobody stopped them.
