I am an avid cruiser and write reviews on Trip Advisor all the time. I am very picky and particular and was very concerned with all of the negative reviews that I read on Cruise Critic prior to us taking this cruise. I have sailed on Princess numerous times and also have taken Celebrity and Azamara Club cruises. Let me say that this is the BEST cruise I have taken. I also had a good friend take the Breakaway (sister ship) and really disliked it. So I did a lot of research.

First of all, embarkation was easy and quick, no problem whatsoever and very organized. My husband and I were on the ship by 12:30. The ship is beautiful. Biig, modern, andvery clean. We headed right to the restaurant area to make our specialty restaurant reservations. We got a $225 shipboard credit so we decided to use it for some of the extra pay restaurants. All days and times we wanted were available. You can do this online before the cruise actually starts, but you have to prepay for it with a credit card. Since we had the shipboard credit, we waited to do it until we got on the cruise. We also went to the box office and made reservations for the Comedy Shows. We made our reservations for Burn the Floor and Legally Blond at home but you can also do that at the box office. I highly recommend making reservations because you really can't get in without them, or you have to wait in a standby line. So at least make the reservation and you could always change your mind later. After our reservations were made we felt much better.

We headed to O'Sheenans for lunch which is pub like food. Very good. We then went to our room which was very spacious. We were upgraded to a balcony. It was very small, but we liked it. Is it necessary? No. But for free, it was great. I wouldn't get a balcony again because it's not worth the extra cost to me and we are not in the room very much. But that is up to what each person enjoys.

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BC

Very nice and spacious cabin. The 10th floor is a great spot with cabins above and below our deck. Quiet at night and in between the happening areas of decks 6,7 and 8 and also close to pools and buffet at deck 15. Room was a nice size and bathroom was larger than most. Good layout and did not feel cramped.

Port Reviews

Miami

Stayed in Miami for 3 days, had a great time, then drove to Key West for a week, then drove back to Miami to get on the cruise. Stayed at the Shepley Hotel in South Beach. Great hotel.

St. Thomas

We did not take an excursion through the ship but instead booked a 6 hour private sailboat that left from Redbook. We were taken to St. John for snorkeling, a delicious lunch and sailing all between the islands. Not too expensive and a fabulous day WY from large crowded ship excursions. Went with Pam on the Daysail Fantasy. Excellent.

Tortola

We booked this on our own and it was half the price of the cruise excursion. We went to Virgin Gorda and the Baths. Took Speedy's ferry on our own with an included taxi ride to and from the Baths. That cost $76 total for two people. We then paid $3 per person to enter the Baths. This way we spent as much time as we wanted to there and swam and explored longer than the scheduled tours. It was not too crowded and beautiful. The cruise port area is still being built and under construction, so not a lot to see there.

Nassau

On our own, we walked to Junkanoo beach (about a 15 minute walk from the ship). A great place to relax and have a great day. We paid $35 Nd had two chairs and an umbrella set up for us on a pristine piece of white sand and that included 6 alcoholic drinks! You cannot beat that. They even bring the drinks to your chair or walk them into the water. The water was nice and refreshing and you did not need water shoes. The beach was smooth. Nice area and Byron the owner and his wife offer great hospitLity. We also got some conch fritters which were delicious. They bring you samples of food and drinks throughout the day. There are tons of fruity tropical drinks as well as beer and all are good. I realize that Atlantis is the populR excursion here, but it's very expensive and I don't think it's worth the money for the amount of time we are in port. This was a nice relaxing and inexpensive beach day.
