Cabin: Balcony

This was one of those deals which includes 2 nights in Rome before embarking, flights and transfers at an attractive price + balcony cabin.

I suppose corner cutting is going to happen and in this case it was that the flights involved a change in Frankfurt outbound (hint: never accept that, it was dreadful) and in Munich inbound (not quite so bad but a long wait in Rome Airport was the pits). The hotel in Rome (Church Palace) was also a bit of a disappointment (see Trip Advisor review)

We have only a Baltic Cruise with Holland America to compare, but the two lines seemed broadly similar, despite Cunard thinking that they are a touch superior. Balcony cabin was adequate but would have preferred a bathtub (HA had a last minute discounted upgrade which gave us a roomy cabin and bathroom (no such was available with Cunard). I got the impression that, even if discounted, the next step up with Cunard would have been horrendously expensive.

Cabin BD

Well furnished, clever use of available space. TV too small and picture quality not good. Wi-Fi prohibitively expensive.

Port Reviews

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

Ship tendered into this port terribly rough swell and ridiculously tight getting tenders between ships to the quay
