We just got back yesterday from our 8 night cruise on the Carnival Sunshine. My husband and I traveled with our three teenage kids ages 19, 17, and 14. We have been on 7 cruises with Royal Caribbean, but have never been on Carnival before. I would say that they are comparable except for the food, especially the buffet. Carnival's buffet is much smaller with little variety and small amount of fresh fruit. The MDR food was just ok, my kids had a difficult time finding something that they liked.(they are not picky eaters). The Taco bar was very good and Guy Fiery's hamburger joint was the best food on the ship! My son and husband had one everyday!
They ship was in good condition. At first, it took us a little time to figure out the layout. By the next day, we figured it out. Out room steward, MIn, was excellent. We had a balcony room and the kids had an interior room across the hall. He worked hard and cleaned our rooms perfectly. (always with a smile)! Our staterooms were one floor above the Liquid Lounge where they have all the shows and the night club late at night. We were staterooms 6131 and 6137. You could definitely hear the loud music while trying to sleep at night.
My 14 year old loved the O2 kids club! The water slides were fun! We hardly ever saw him!! We loved all the shows and especially the comics. The Cruise Director was our least favorite on all the cruises we have been on. Not very professional!
Very nice cabin, spacious shower
we rented a car and drove to all the beaches and the lighthouse. We didn't get there until 3 pm. After dark there wasn't much to do.
we went to Margaritaville and swam in the pool, walked on the beach, had a few drinks (expensive)! It was a wonderful day!
It was an easy to get on the ship.
