Just returned from this cruise which was the first for us in some time so we likely have different viewpoints than the regulars. I do agree with some other posters that because you pay a bit less for these older ships and Carnival, the expectation should of course be lower than other cruises. Keeping this in mind is why I bumped it up to average instead of poor.

The ship itself looks older than its age to me and definitely needs rehab/detail cleaning. The cabins while roomy, do remind me of some 80's type dated decor actually. Couch in room was specifically very dirty coral color and bad shape. Beds very uncomfortable. Common area windows, balcony glass etc really needs cleaning, painting etc. Our cabin steward was very friendly and did a good job though.

Food was a HUGE disappointment for us as well. We did the anytime dining so I imagine the wait staff being mundane and not happy was simply just because they didn't have to be "on" as they would for the same regulars each day. They played a song and danced a couple of nights and tried to smile/have fun but the day to day was shockingly blah service. Food was mostly good except for poorly cooked baked potatoes each time for some reason. The more casual food buffet area was much worse service with absolutely nobody friendly or outgoing at all and very cold food. This was after always waiting in significant lines so I would avoid this option as much as you can. The advertised sushi bar is no longer in existence either so just a heads up on that. The have a taste bar to sample a different couple of unique items every couple of days instead.

Balcony

Good size, love the privacy walls on balcony as some ships have short walls etc. Very dated salmon/coral type coloring in the room though and hard beds.
