This was our third cruise - our previous cruises being Costa classica and Msc divina and I would say overall, this is the one we enjoyed the most.
The previous two cruises were your more traditional set time dining, which we thought we liked, but the freestyle dining on the epic actually suited us better. However, if you prefer the more formal, set time meals, then this may not be for you.
We had a mid ship, balcony cabin, which was nice but it seemed smaller than the one we had on the divina. However, quite modern and fresh, with plenty of storage space. There was a sofa in the room also but due to the room layout, we didnt use it as it faced the wardrobe. the shower was sort of in the livingroom, with a curtsin you could pull round to separate them, however, quite unusual - just as well we're comfortable with each other! On the whole though, room was good with good sized balcony.
Cabin was fresh and modern. Balcony a good size. Plenty of storage space. Would prefer shower to be more separate from living area and room layout meant we didn't use the settee.
Naples itself just a big city really with no great appeal but was fine to walk round for an hour or so. There is a nice castle in the centre also. Naples is ideal for visiting sorrento, which we did, being only a 35 min boat ride away, and also pompeii and caprice.
Civitavecchia actually a nice little place with a beach, however, as most people do, we took the public train to Rome, which was around 1 hour and only €6 each way. It was a bit of a hassle getting to the train station at Civitavecchia from the port as there was a lack of shuttle buses at the port and when the shuttle bus dropped us in town, it was so busy, so we just decided to walk the 25 mins or so to the station. On the way back, we got a shared taxi with 4 other cruisers back to the ship and this was only €5 each so far easier.
Rome itself is magnificent. Loads to see, beautiful buildings, history, nice restaurants, shopping etc. It has everything. However, was a good hour and a half to get there and the same back.
Cannes is brilliant. Beautiful place. Good shopping and a nice place to walk about. It has a good beach. There is probably not loads to see there. It was a tender embarkation but no hassles with this and drops u pretty much in the centre of cannes
We were surprisingly really impressed with palma as this was the one port we weren't that bothered going to. However the old town is beautiful with an amazing cathedral. It was a good 39 min walk to the old town from the port but we got a taxi back, which took 5 mins and cost €12
