Recently took the Viking River Cruise down the Danube from Neurenberg to Budapest. the transfer from the airport to Cruise ship went very smoothly. We learned that water levels were very low and there was a chance we would switch ships midway during the cruise. the Freya was a beautiful ship but they had a problem with the air conditioning in the common areas. Unfortunately we did have to switch ship and this meant we could not dock at Passau or Melk, thus began the coach rides everywhere. Due to long coach rides, from 1 1/2 hours to 4 hours we were rushed through Melk and Passau. When we were on the second ship the temperature in our cabin was 82 degrees and it took 4 phone calls before someone came to look at it. the common areas were having air problems also. Because we did not disembark in Budapest it meant another coach ride to Budapest and cancellation of several optional tours.
On the plus side the food was great and the wait staff very professional. The on board entertainment was wonderful and the cities we visited very interesting.
