From the moment we were onboard, to the moment we reluctantly left, we loved our journey aboard the Nordnorge.
We loved that it was a small ship, with a job to do, delivering post, packages and people, to the little ports along the Norwegian coast.
Our cabins were small but very comfortable, though we did take advantage of an upgrade to a suite later on in the cruise.
We started off on deck 5, and our cabin was small, but comfortable and sufficient. However, when we heard about upgrading to a suite halfway into our journey, we went for it !
Our suite was smart, roomy and comfortable. we were able to sit with our 2 friends and make a coffee during the day.
The only problem we encountered was that there were no blinds at the windows. As it was midnight sun, and as I don't sleep well, this was a problem at first. But on request, 2 blinds were fitted, though they were white and didn't cut out the light ! But at least the request was noted and sorted straight away.
We caught a bus to the cable car, very easy and quick.
The views were wonderful, and the car operator was a friendly and informative man, showing us points of interest in the town below.
Had a delicious hot chocolate at the café.
We had a quick stop here, but enough for us to go and see the pretty painted buildings in the town.
Stayed onboard here, but loved the views in this typically breathtaking Fjord
Had a couple of hours to go and explore the town.
Having visited 50 years before, I was amazed at how much the town had grown.
But the lovely, tree lined street leading up to the Cathedral were just the same.
A lovely town, just a shame that certain international eating establishments had been allowed to dominate what should be a beautiful centre of town.
