Sail Date: Jul 2015

Silver Cloud ties up to HMS Belfast opposite the Tower of London. Finding the pier is not easy but once you have, the service is impeccable.

We boarded at about 2.30 pm and were shown straight to our suite on deck 5. We were delighted to see several crew members we knew from previous cruises. Dining on the open deck of La Terrazza that evening with views of Tower Bridge was fabulous. The sail out the next morning was at 4.15 am but at least 50 people were up on deck to watch the bridge open for our departure backwards. The Cloud turns round about half a mile down river with the help of tugs. Dawn broke as we sailed past the O2.

Our ports of call after transiting the Kiel Canal were Copenhagen, Visby, Stockholm, Tallinn, St Petersburg overnight, Helsinki, Warnemunde, Kiel canal and Amsterdam. In nearly all the cities we were docked centrally so excursions wasted no time reaching the sights. Visby should have been a docked visit but the ship developed an engine fault and we stayed outside the narrow entrance to the harbour and were tendered in. (The fault was fixed quickly).

Cabin Review

Cabin VR

Convenient midship location on the same deck as the bar and boutique and often where the gangway is situated. Down one deck to the dining room and up one to the theatre, two to Terrazza and three to the pool deck.

Walk in shower with seat. Walk in wardrobe. Double bed, sitting area with sofa, two chairs, desk, TV, fridge. Door to balcony.

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

We took the shuttle into the centre of town and walked to Rosenberg Slot where we saw the Jewel Collection and the interior of the castle. We then walked through pretty Nyhaven and past the Little Mermaid to the ship.

Visby

A pleasant town which is easy to walk around.

Helsinki

Lovely city to walk around. Interesting market near the harbour. Wonderful food hall in the department store.

Amsterdam

We took the tram to Rijksmuseum and spent a couple of hours there before braving the Gay Pride crowds on the walk back to the ship.
