Just came back from the Eastern Carr cruise. We chose RC because we were traveling with our 3 older kids (18,20 and 23) and this line seemed to have the activities that would appeal to them most. Ship was really nice and I thought the food was much better than expected. The buffet in the Windjammer was good, not great, but then they had a big variety to choose from too. Dinners in the dining room were really good we thought, except for the last day which was just average. This was the day after the "formal" night of lobster and prime rib, so maybe they were just trying to wrap things up at the end of the cruise.

The coffee shop in the promenade was open till 1 am and was always busy. My kids were constantly there getting their latte fixes. We bought the $22.00 package which allowed them unlimited sodas, fresh squeezed juices, coffee at the "starbucks" and any virgin frozen drinks. I think that package was well worth it as they would have 2-3 frozen coffee drinks a day and at least 3 frozen drinks out by the pool. If you are not a big drinker, I would recommend that package. The only pain was that they actually checked their Seapass cards and would swipe it at the bar before giving you a glass of fresh oj. Really? I can understand with frozen drinks and such, but it was a pain for the OJ that seemed a bit ridiculous.

The ships entertainment was a bit disappointing. The ice show, and the couple from Eastern Europe who did and act on the "trapeze/silk ropes" were excellent, as the beatles music tribute, but the magic show and the RC dancers were very so so at best. Wish they would have had better shows, things to do. The positive side is that there was never a line to get in anywhere. I have been on ships where if you don't arrive 30 minutes prior to a show, you won't get in. Not here, we had the early dinner seating and would get out usually at 6:50 and would scoot up to the 7 show and get in with no problem. They did show movies out by the pool at night and that was fun. Thought there would be more dance parties at the bars, trivia contests, etc.
