We took a 7-day Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Independence of the Seas August 2. We found the dining and stateroom staff to be very service oriented and helpful. We loved our Cruise Director Leigh, and the shows were fantastic for the most part. My husband and I always cruise RC, but had not done so for several years. We noticed that several things had changed with the RC cruises that were somewhat disappointing. For example, our stateroom attendant was very helpful, but some extras were gone, like mints in the room, etc. Previously on our cruises, there was at least one midnight buffet with fruit, and ice sculpture, and sweets. It appears that that is no longer offered, so our teenage girls were a bit disappointed. Additionally, we waited for an hour and a half on Captain's Night to meet the Captain. Apparently he came for a limited time, perhaps later, but we never saw him, also a disappointment for the kids after waiting for so long. We didn't sleep well on the final night because our stateroom was extremely warm. Not sure what happened there. Despite the minor disappointments, we had a great time overall and will go back again. In fact, we booked another cruise for later this year on another RC ship.
