My husband and I took our first NCL cruise to the Caribbean on the Getaway in July 2015. The ship is fairly new, so it was very clean and updated. We loved the waterfront bar area and enjoyed having a drink at night out there. We bought the drink package and I am glad we did because we didn't have to think about the cost every time we ordered drinks.
Our mini-suite with a balcony was clean, spacious and I was really impressed with the way they made use of every inch of space to have so much storage. We both overpacked, as usual, but there was no problem with finding places for everything - our clothes, shoes, toiletries, books, etc. There were several hooks to hang towels and bathing suits as well as a clothes line in the shower.
There were plenty of onboard activities and we participated in some like Bingo and a few informational seminars. We also watched the art auctions but did not purchase anything. The jewelry stores on the ship had beautiful stuff as they usually do, but were pricey. So, we did some looking but no buying.
Great location! We were mid-ship on a high floor and I am so thankful we picked this exact location. I was tempted to pick an aft cabin, but my husband insisted on mid-ship. It was so easy to get to and from places being right off the elevator. I don't think it was any noisier than if we had been anywhere else. We did hear a lot of noise from above and sometimes our next door neighbors sounded like they were moving furniture, but it didn't truly disturb us and we didn't hear it at night when we were trying to sleep, so it was no problem. We loved having a balcony. We had plenty of room and the creative use of the space was impressive.
