My husband and I (60s, late 50s) have just returned from our wonderful Baltic Adventure sailing. Almost 40 cruises for myself as a travel agent since 1978, and my husband has sailed on around 20. We like that Holland America is keeping their ships from the Megaship model. We'd dined at the Pinnacle Grill, (excellent, we both had beef), Canaletto was a tasty option one night. Tamarind has a lovely calm ambiance with equally wonderful service. We both enjoyed our soup and appetizers, but the main courses were abit out of our taste zone. Lido always had fresh salads and options. Food was all round excellent from the Burgers and great fries at Dive, to Pizza at Slice and the lovely canapés served during cocktails. Don't order room service at certain times, it will take over an hour. We usually have a verandah, but not on this sailing. Our stateroom was outside and very roomy on main deck and had a fantastic location near the aft elevators. The weather was on the chilly side, but as we live access to fresh air, we would go with a verandah for sure next time. There is just a great vibe on the ship. There were quite a few teens/kids on the summer sailing, but they were not seen too much during our 12 nights. Enjoyed the gym that had everything we needed.Entertainment was top notch, and love that passengers dress up on the formal nights. We had for the first time ,two formal nights which were our two days at sea. It was nice having only the 2 formal evenings in 12 nights. Embarkation and disembarkation was quick and efficient. Really enjoyed that Holland America has a great scope of activity level for their shore excursions. The Helsinki bike tour was excellent! Service in bars was excellent, and these great staff members remember what you had. As most cruisers know, each ship has their own personality and Captain Werner Timmers and his excellent team provide the cruiser with one of the nicest ships you'll ever meet. We had a marvellous time!
Lovely large cabin. We are used to verandah, but the size of this stateroom made it not too hard to take. Great location near aft elevators. Loved the location. Up one deck to Mainstage and Rembrandt dining room.
