Traveled with children

Just back from a week with a family of 6 including our 4 children ages 12, 15, 19 and 21. The Gem is a great ship with nice amenities and no shortage of activity for kids of all ages. The best place for sun and views is on the upper sun deck on the bow; great big wicker beds with pillows and cushions are the best spot to enjoy the sun with a spectacular view ahead.

The crew is great but our week in high season with an overflowing passenger count clearly threw them off of their 'A' game. Restaurant service was rushed with little attention to details like drink orders and refills. You could sense the frustration and outright annoyance at some passenger requests. Dinner at Cagneys (Steakhouse) is worth the extra charge.

Norwegian 'Next' Features are installed but the beer taps were out of order at 'Maltings' beer bar. Aside from dining the ship did not seem crowded and we were able to find great activities and excursions. Get an early tender ticket to experience a full day at Great Stirrup Cay since lunch closes at 2 PM.
