An older ship that RCCL has not put any money into lately. It is very obvious that RCCL is promoting the newest and bigger ships than the smaller ones. We are gold members and this cruise did us in for sailing with RCCL again. We are going to stay with Princess because even the smaller ships have been better than this one. There was rust in the sink bowl where the drain connects. Lots of rust on the other portions of the ship. I cannot recall seeing anybody painting or doing any outside upkeep. The dining room staff was not very efficient. on the second night of the cruise we waited 30 minutes for our starters and another 20 for the main course. my grandson had a hair in his food and the granddaughter had mac & cheese that I could not even eat. I am not sure what kind of cheese they used and it was nothing i have ever tasted. The remaining nights dinners were in the Windjammer and they were much better. Having just sailed on the Jewel in April, the menu was very familiar to us. When we had turkey in the windjammer, it was the best i have had since the Jewel sailing.
Our cabin steward, Trevor, was good taking care of us even though he shorted us a bath towel one night. Since we did not shower before we went ashore, it was not big deal because there were enough towels later that evening.
The best part of the trip was snorkeling at the Blue Lagoon shore excursion on the other side of the beach. You can get to it through the food area. The grandson really enjoyed himself seeing the fish and being out in the ocean. If you go there to snorkel, swim to the right side by the rocks and you will not have to deal with the rocks.
Good size room for 2 people. There were 2 rooms booked side by side and we had the adjoining room door opened for us. The kids loved it so that was good. Lots of drawer space; however, NO refrigerator. We were really disappointed in not have a fridge. Trevor, our steward, kept us well supplied with ice.
