The luggage has been put away, laundry done, and I am almost through the 500+ emails from work that piled up while on vacation, so now is the time to provide musings about our recent voyage on MV Grandeur of the Seas to Bermuda.

A little bit about me to help frame the review, I am a 58 year old white collar professional from the suburbs of Richmond, VA. I traveled with my wife, and two sons - ages 21 and 18. This was my eighth trip to Bermuda and 12th cruise overall, (split between Carnival, RCI, Celebrity and the now defunct Fantasy Cruises). I consider myself essentially an 'Old School' cruiser, in that I like to cruise on a ship, not a floating Mall, or Amusement Park, and I prefer ships of a more modest size, like Grandeur of the Seas. (Please note, I don't begrudge anyone likes the new, larger and glitzy ships, in fact, our first RCI cruise was on Freedom of the Seas, and I had a blast!)

Overall, we had a very, very good time! Does that mean it was perfect? Of course not, being an older ship, Grandeur of the Seas lacks the 'whistle and bells' that her new fleet mates have, but what she lacks, she makes up in the friendly atmosphere which permeates throughout her. She is easy to navigate around, clean, nicely appointed, (not glitzy or over the top) and never did she seem crowded, even though I heard our cruise was sold out.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

I guess you could cal this a 'Cruise Ship' standard stateroom, nothing really to write home about. Two single beds pushed together, love seat, balcony. Large enough for two adults for a week. One thing that has been mentioned on previous post and reviews, the beds are low to the floor, with little room to store luggage. In fact my wife kept her suitcase on the love seat for the duration of the cruise. Nicely decorated, with a flat screen TV, and modest size bathroom with Shower.

The room was clean upon or arrival, and was kept so for the duration by the cabin attendant.

My two sons, (ages 21 and 18) were in an inside room on deck 3. Again, the room, (I apologize for not having the dimensions) was one could consider 'Cruise Ship standard' was more than adequate for two people for a week.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

Kings Wharf, like the rest of Bermuda is a true gem! Every time we visit Bermuda and Kings Wharf we love it more and more!

Baltimore

Spent two days at Inner harbor, Federal Hill and Little Italy. Very pleasant city, with nice attractions. Recent news coverage of evens in Baltimore however, may prevent us from returning for the near future.
