My wife and I are active cruisers (we live 15 min from Port Canaveral) and we are Platinum on most cruise lines. Last Thursday a TV commercial got our interest since we had nothing planed for the weekend. We call Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line (BPCL) Direct to investigate what this cruise line is all about. We have been to Nassau 2-3 times a year for the past 15 years, but never to Freeport. I like the idea you can use this Cruise Line as a “ferry” to Freeport and stay at any Hotel overnight (Cruise and Stay Deals). Then return a few days later back to Palm Beach, Florida. We called direct at BPCL to see if we could cruise the next day July 31st….. it was 100% Booked, however we indicated if they had a cancellation, to please call us. The next morning calls and we booked the 4PM sailing, Ocean View Cabin. We did not know what to expect as this would be our first sailing with this cruise ship. I would NOT use any “promotional” agency to book – call them direct. Check in was all done on-line and easy.

Upon arrival (after a quick packing) in W. Palm Beach we did not expect the cruise ship to be at an industrial Port, but what the heck… Valet parking was the only option and it was a breeze (upon our return it was even faster). The ship itself was a surprise – every item looked new and our cabin (U112) was very clean and well maintained. The entire ship’s Air Condition was cold and refreshing since outside was 94. Even though the ship was 100% booked, we never felt crowded as we explored the ship. Each night we enjoyed a fabulous 50’s 60’s band while playing Blackjack. The staff was extremely eager to satisfy and very pleasant. Food was well prepared and the Prime Rib was fantastic. Evening snacks were available until 1AM. Overall, the food onboard was above our expectations – quite surprising and enjoyable since we expected “budget” meals.

During the day, we needed to see if the Grand Lucayan resort was truly a 4-5 star establishment. Yes, the grounds, pool area, and beach was beautiful. The next time we travel to Freeport, we plan to stay 2, or 4 nights at the Grand Lucayan and use this ship as transportation to and from Freeport. Be prepared to travel 15-20 minutes from the port to the Grand Lucayan and any shopping planned. TAXI was $5 per person, one way. There is nothing at the Freeport dock since it also an Industrial Port.

Cabin Review

Cabin Ocean View

Air Condition was cold and refreshing since outside was 94. Well maintained and clean. I do suggest the Mattress be replaced. Linens were new and lots of closets. A Safe also was in the room. TV was Old-Fashion Tube variety but worked nice.

Port Reviews

Freeport

With the Grand Bahamas Paradise Cruise line, they dock in an Industrial port. Takes 15-20 min via Taxi ($5 per person one way) to get to shopping and Hotels. There is nothing at the port.
