We chose Epic as we had a great cruise on the Norwegian Spirit at Easter. It's a very big ship and can sometimes feel a bit busy up on the pool decks. There is just not enough swimming pool space for the amount of guests. Yet most other areas never felt cramped. Lots of great food choices. Nice bars and lounge areas. The quiet zone on deck with the double sun beds with mattresses were lovely. Lovely staff.

Not enough roulette tables and did not like smoking in the casino as its in a very open area so smoke travels. Ice bar a great novelty. Nightclub on the deck was great as well as the headliners and fat cats venues. Great gym. Lots and lots of things to do. Good selection of shops on board.

Our ports of call were fantastic. Naples, civittavechhia, Livorno, Palma and Barcelona. A very busy week with so many wonderful sights to visit. Could have done with an extra sea day for a rest.

Cabin ID

We had a basic inside cabin as we were on a budget. It was nice. Really comfortable bed and nice bedding. Bathroom a little strange as shower and toilet were separate and not in a closed off room. The sink was on the dressing table. Different but not a problem. Lots of storage space. Fridge, ice bucket, hairdryer. The cabin was quite dark even with every light on. The lack of a dedicated bathroom meant that the mirror was in the dresser with not great lighting. Difficult to apply make up and almost impossible for plucking eyebrows!!!

Port Reviews

Barcelona

So much to do in Barcelona. One of our party had never been so we bought a pack of 10 train tickets and did a whistle stop tour. Sagrada Familia, Park Guell (tickets purchased online for monumental zone), plaza espanya, beach, Rambla etc. fantastic city.

Naples

We bought a ticket for the ferry over to Capri, went on the funicular up to the plaza and town. Fantastic views. We then came down and hired a 'Capri boat' from the harbour. €90 for 2 hours. Easy to drive and they give you a map of the island. We did a loop of the island stopping at the green grotto for a swim. It was wonderful. Highly recommended and well worth the money. Max 5 persons per boat. Make sure you buy your return ferry ticket early as it gets very busy Nd they sell out.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

The cruise line put on a special train direct to Rome for $28. This was perfect although it is about a 20 minute walk to the station at civitavecchia so leave enough time. The train stops 5 mins from the Vatican City. We then did the open top sitte seeing bus to see as much as possible which was really good.

Cannes

We had to get a tender into the port but this was no trouble at all. The beach is right there. Very nice and warm water. The town was a lovely walk. We did not see too much as we wanted to appreciate the beach but would definitely like to go back for a longer visit.
