We had long wanted to do a river cruise and this year we were finally able to do so. We have done one ocean cruise which we enjoyed so wanted to experience a river cruise. Emerald Waterways ticked all the boxes for us and we had an absolutely wonderful experience with them. The staff of the Emerald Star were a great bunch who went out of their way to make our holiday so enjoyable.

Having included flights from London and transfers made everything easy for us. We were sent a great pre-cruise package with all the information and vouchers we required. Along with this were 2 backpacks and a great map of the rivers we were travelling on with information on the places we would travel by.The hotel Emerald uses in Budapest (Courtyard by Marriott) was wonderful and we are pleased we had an extra day to explore this amazing city.

The transfer to the ship was easy and we were welcomed with a drink and told when lunch would be served in the lounge and we were also given a demonstration on how to use THE coffee machine - it made very good coffee! Our bags were delivered to our cabin. Read more
