Embarkation was smooth and lunch was available on the 9th deck and our suites were ready in record time. The ship needs some work and next year it's due for a big renovation. What it lacks right now in being modern, it makes up with customer service by the staff. Each crew member were polite and professional and many have been with Azamara for years. There is a large rate of return passengers because they feel at home with Azamara and that's their biggest asset, making customers feel at home and relaxed. Even officers of the ship bid you a good day as you go ashore and welcome you back later in the day.

The beds are firm and I asked for a mattress topper to help my aching hip. Our room steward put an egg crate foam pad on top of the mattress and it made the bed very comfy. The shower in the stateroom is too small for me, so I used the shower in the spa and also used the steam room. Very nice.

Food overall is very good quality and the wait staff in Windows Café are helpful getting drinks, wine, and carrying full plates. There is a sense of community in Windows at breakfast time and people eat from the buffet and head out for the day. We like our food with more flavor than was offered in the specialty restaurants but the veal chop was the best we ever had.

Cabin Review

Club Veranda Stateroom

Typical small stateroom which made me want to be out of the stateroom and in public areas. Clean and tidy but small bathroom.

Port Reviews

Port Douglas, Australia

Isle of Man was so fascinating and our tour guide was a trained archeologist who gave more information about the island and all it entails than I can take in. One of the best excursions with the beautiful and scenic day and how the island operates a part of the UK but independently. I need to go back and soak it all in.

Belfast

I took ship's shuttle to the tourist info center and got directions to the public market and a nearby book store with free Wi-Fi. St. George market has local foods and fun to walk around with locals shopping and eating.

Greenock (Glasgow)

Port workers helpful how to get to an ATM and get a taxi to the Scot Rail station to go to Glasgow. Annoying taxi people in terminal who wanted $$$$ to take me to Glasgow. I walked a few blocks to ATM, found a taxi and went to Greenrock central train station. Small station, employee sold me a roundtrip ticket ($10) and I was on my way. Train is clean and in 45 min arrived Glasgow. Upon return to Greenrock, employee called a taxi for me and in 5 minutes I was back on board ship.

Invergordon (Inverness)

Quick walk to the Purple Turtle café, small place with free Wi-Fi. They are very hospitable and I had a Scottish burger with house made fries and onion rings for $10. Great place to use the Wi-Fi and watch people walk in the rain.
