Had a most enjoyable cruise on the Rhine on Avalon Felicity at Easter. We flew from the UK to Amsterdam where we waited at the Movenpik hotel to embark. While we waited we went for a stroll round Amsterdam centre, it's only about a 15 min. walk from the hotel. We embarked at 4pm, it really was a bit of a nonsense as they bussed us from the hotel to the ship, it was less than 2 mins. driving as the ship was berthed directly behind the hotel, honestly even those who had mobility issues could have managed it in 5 mins. Embarkation was quick and easy, the cabin was nice, comfortable and clean with sufficient storage. The toiletries were of very good quality, but weren't replaced until almost the end of the cruise which was a shame.

The staff were universally pleasant and helpful. The boat is stylish and comfortable and we loved the coffee station at the rear of the boat, which has juices as well as water plus usually muffins and biscuits or pastries to nibble on, very welcome after a hard days sightseeing. In fact a further station in another part of the ship would be a big plus as when a lot of people descended on the coffee station at the end of a tour, it got a bit crowded.

We took the drinks package which we felt was reasonable value. Meals were always good, although we usually took the lighter lunch on the upper saloon as we felt that was adequate. Dinner is open sitting, so unless you are in a party of 4 or more you can find yourself sitting with different companions each night, which did make dining interesting and was a good way to meet fellow passengers. The only issue with this cruise was the time it took to serve the meals, there seemed to be an issue with staffing and on several occasions it took over 3 hours to finish a meal. As it took so long to serve dinner, we tended not to linger, so I don't know what the evening entertainment was like, although on most nights I think it was just the pianist who played dance music.
